Trivia

Boxing, or at least the concept of boxing began in ancient Egypt where prisoners or slaves were forced to fight one another for money, and freedom. In these ancient matches, the round ends when someone dies. They used weapons like knives, pikes, axes and other weapons. Then came the (HOLY?) Roman Empire. This time fighters were given a name “Gladiators”. These people were used for entertainment in the Arena or the Coliseums. Slaves were bought for the sole purpose of these games. They were even made to fight beasts like lions and tigers. Still Death is inevitable.

History

High concentrations of boxers are found in 3rd world countries simply because of poverty. And we tolerate this poverty by honoring boxers who wins the gold medal. Before, In the US, large amounts of migrants supply the need for new and better boxers from different countries around the world. At present day, rules were made to AT LEAST justify this kind of sport. Yes, rules were made to Justify Violence, and to tolerate violence.

The next time we cheer for a boxing champion, or to adore boxing. We must ask ourselves why we do it and bow down our head with shame.
